Visitors do not require visa to enter Ecuador
Ecuador offers to the world every day more signs of being a welcoming country. Since last June 20, foreign visitors do not need to obtain a tourist visa to enter the Ecuadorian territory. This, according to government authorities, is intended to implement the concept of universal citizenship and take a step forward in hopes that other countries take similar decisions.
In recent years is striking increasing tourists to Ecuador. In 2006 reached 840,555, whereas in 2007 the figure rose to 953,196, according to reports from the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Tourism in this country. It is hoped that this opening will increase the number of visitors.
The elimination of visas for tourism applies only to those who plan to stay for up to 90 days, after which they justify their stay. This does not exonerate the other requirements such as the obligation to enter places (international airports, border checkpoints, seaports) in order to be registered by the National Directorate of Immigration.
The first passengers benefit from this measure was welcomed like travel agents and tour operators Ecuadorians. The airports in Quito and Guayaquil recorded the largest influx of tourists in the first few days.
